On December 28. 2022, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) submitted a renewal of the State's 1115 Waiver, the federal authority of KanCare. The renewal is a "skinny" version of the 1115 waiver and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has determined the application to be complete. More information about this change can be found in the documents below, but it is important to know that this renewal and other applications on the future authority of KanCare will not change the benefits and services KanCare enrollees receive.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) held a series of virtual and in-person public meetings for the discussion of the state's proposed plan for the future authority of the KanCare program October 11-13, 2022, and October 17-19, 2022. KDHE held an in-person public hearing in Topeka on December 6, 2022, and a Zoom public hearing on December 7, 2022. The recordings of the virtual meetings and hearings and copies of the informational flyers used in the public meetings are available below.
