Next Steps

Currently, KDHE has been approved for a one year extension of the KanCare 1115 waiver from CMS. Under the new timeline, before the 1115 waiver comes up for renewal, the State will issue a request for proposal (RFP) for Managed Care Organizations (MCO) to submit bids to provide health insurance to Medicaid recipients for the following three years after the new contract goes into effect. KDHE plans to conduct public comment hearings in fall 2017 once the draft KanCare renewal application is posted.  The public will also be able to comment on the renewal application once it is submitted to CMS.
